The Institute for African American Studies (AFAM) roots itself in the traditions of the field and trains a keen eye on current opportunities and future possibilities. As we move into the second decade of the 21st century, we celebrate the fortieth anniversary of our founding at UGA by offering exciting, robust, and academically rigorous programs and initiatives that cross disciplinary boundaries and embrace cultural diversity as a critical component of Africana Studies.  To learn more please visit:

The African Studies Institute at the University welcomes students, faculty, friends and visitors to participate in advancing the international aspects of teaching, research, service and outreach missions of the oldest federally chartered public university in the U.S.

The Center for Asian Studies exists to nurture and guide academic programs and exchanges, primarily on Asia , for students, faculty, and appropriate staff members. While these programs focus on language and area studies, they also involve students and faculty from law, business, agriculture, education, journalism, veterinary medicine, as well as the arts and sciences.

The International Center works to help nations in transition strengthen governance and administrative capability. Through instructional programs, technical assistance, and research, faculty and staff work to develop more efficient, transparent, and responsive governments. By bringing scholars and practitioners to Georgia, the Center also helps state officials in Georgia understand and respond to global trends affecting the state.

Welcome to the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute (LACSI) at the University of Georgia! LACSI brings Latin America and the Caribbean to the UGA campus by sponsoring educational activities, artistic performances, interdisciplinary research, teaching, and public service projects, in coordination with Latin Americanists from UGA, other universities, the community at large, and abroad.

The Center for Latino Achievement and Success in Education (CLASE) is an educational research and development center at the University of Georgia.  CLASE aims to narrow the achievement gap of Latino students placed at risk due to poverty and language barriers and to improve the level of education of Latino students (PreK-16) statewide.
